frequently asked questions

You can snowshoe any trail covered in snow but the best trails by far are the ones that are regularly groomed. Check out Nevada Nordic for the most up to date groomed snowshoeing trails on the North side of Lake Tahoe.

Read our guide on the Top 6 Places to Go Snowshoeing in Lake Tahoe for more recommendations.

The most popular as well as easiest trails for first timers are the groomed trails found in North Lake Tahoe and the Truckee Donner areas. Nevada Nordic is a great resource for up to date conditions on the groomed Mt. Rose/Tahoe Meadows and Spooner trails located on the north side of the lake.

Whichever winter activity you choose, we recommend being equipped with the following:

  • Water

  • Small Backpack for personal belongings
  • Gloves
  • Beanie
  • Sunglasses
  • Warm Clothing
  • Waterproof Boots
  • Camera
  • Sunscreen

Vista Trail Bikes doesn’t currently sell any boots or clothing but there are several stores that sell affordable winter clothing in Incline Village. For more information on how to dress for winter snow biking, check out our guide to Fat Tire Biking in Tahoe.

Not at this time. You would be responsible for transporting and securing your rental snow bikes while they are in your possession and returning them to us.

While there many places to snow tube (any hill will suffice), our favorite is Tahoe Meadows at Mt Rose. Located just 5-6 miles from our shop, this spot is a popular local and visitor recreation area with easy access.

Although they’re very similar, there are small differences between the two. Sleds have bottoms made of wooden platforms with runners or plastic. Snow tubes are oversized inner tubes that have a cut-out section in the middle. Snow tubes are typically a softer surface to sit on than sleds.

Yes! Our heavy duty commercial grade snow tube rentals can accommodate up to 250 lbs. However, we do not recommend more than 2 little ones at a time.
